George Smart

George Smart joined the Electronic & Electrical Engineering department of University College London in September 2007 when he started his undergraduate master’s degree. Upon completion of his degree, he stayed with the department, joining the Communications and Information Systems group, where he is currently working towards a PhD on energy-aware MAC protocols for wireless sensor networks under the supervision of Dr Yiannis Andreopoulos. His research interests go beyond wireless sensor networks to span various areas, including embedded systems software and firmware, digital signal processing and hardware design. George was on secondment through the BITE Industry Exchange Award Scheme at ARM working on low power communications. Upon completion of his secondment, George returned to UCL to finish his PhD with the potential of returning to ARM as a full-time employee having submitted his thesis.
