BITE Training Programme – April 2015

DATES: Wednesday 22nd April, 9 am – Friday 24th April 2015, 6:30 pm
VENUE: Oakwood House, Maidstone, Kent, ME16 8AE

The second round of the BITE training programme will run in April 2015 at Oakwood House in Maidstone. This course is funded by the BITE (Breakthrough Information Technology Exchange) scheme. The programme will be intensive and interactive with participants guided by experienced facilitators. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet and network with fellow researchers, as well as guest speakers from industry. If you wish to apply to this course, then please refer to the registration procedure at the end of this document.

Agenda

Day 1

  • Arrival at the venue and team meeting (approx. at 09:00).
  • Course sessions:
    • Introduction to business and entrepreneurship.
    • Business by numbers.
    • Business model canvas.
    • Market industry analysis.
    • Teams and management.
  • Business model canvas exercise.

Day 2

  • Group project activity.
  • Visiting speaker (TBC).
  • Group project activity.

Day 3

  • Business case preparation.
  • Project presentations and feedback.
  • Prize awards.
  • Social event and networking.
  • Departure from venue back to London (approx. at 18:30).

Accommodation and Catering

All costs for rooms in the venue and meals during the course are covered by the BITE hub.

Registration and Deposit

The course is open and free of charge to all UCL PhD and PostDoc researchers. To book a place on this course, a refundable deposit of £20 is required. This is refunded to the attendants upon completion of the 3-day course.

Venue and Travel Arrangements

The venue will be Oakwood House, a Victorian mansion situated in tranquil surroundings in Maidstone. The House is within easy reach of London.

The travel arrangements will be confirmed to you in the near future. For your information, attendees will depart from London early on the Wednesday morning and will return to London on the Friday evening.
