The Department of Computer Science is a world leader in experimental computer science, and areas of expertise include virtual environments, network and systems research, and human-computer interactions. In the most recent Research Assessment Exercise, 80% of the department’s work was rated world-leading or internationally excellent. The department has current or recent collaborations with over 70 partner companies, takes part in a range of consultancy work, and supports student and staff entrepreneurship and spin-out companies.
